Foot Bursitis Treatments
There are several effective treatments for foot bursitis. The first and best treatment is the U.R.I.C.E. treatment philosophy. This stands for Ultrasound, Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. Their healing benefits are as follows:

Ultrasound - Using a personal Therapeutic Ultrasound unit from MendMeShop is an excellent, non-invasive, and effective method of treating your bursitis. The high frequency ultrasound waves emitted by the unit during a treatment gently heat and stimulate the tissues under the skin. The body’s natural response to this is to send additional oxygen and nutrient rich blood to the area (a process known as homeostasis, or the body maintaining a state of equilibrium in itself). This oxygen and nutrient rich blood is vital in healing and recovering from bursitis.
Rest - Obviously, it is very important to keep physical stress on your foot to a minimum, to help your bursitis heal. Not resting your foot can cause the inflamed bursa to become even more inflamed.

Ice - Applying ice/cold to any injury with swelling helps to keep the swelling and pain minimal.
Compression - Lightly compressing an injured area helps to ease swelling and pain.
Elevation - Elevating an injured area will help to relieve pressure and help drain fluids from the injury. It’s best to raise the injured area above the level of your heart for maximum benefit. For example, with a foot injury, lying down on a couch and putting your foot up so that it’s higher than the rest of your body is a good elevation method.
For the best Ice and Compression treatments money can buy, we recommend using Hot/Cold Compression Wraps, from MendMeShop. These wraps use innovative gel pack technology - this will keep the cold or heat lasting longer and stay more evenly spread out over an injured area than a regular ice pack or hot wrap. All you have to provide is the Rest and Elevation!
Other methods of treating bursitis include:
- NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs)
- Having excess bursal fluid removed with a syringe by your doctor
- Surgery (in extreme cases) either to remove the excess fluid or remove the inflamed bursa completely
If proper treatment is used, bursitis can usually be cured in a matter of weeks. If you use MendMeShop's innovative Therapeutic Ultrasound and Hot/Cold Compression Wraps, you’ll get better even faster!
