Dear MendMeShop, I have begun to use the Ultrasound device and have had great results so far.
I have had five orthopedic surguries in the past 18 months and use the device on several areas. I had two torn ligaments and two torn tendons in my left left ankle.
I went through physical therapy for over two months but did not find anyway to reduce the swelling.
After the first use of the device on Friday February 5th, I found the swelling to be greatly reduced. Now I can't use the device three times a day on all the areas that need attention, but once a day is working just fine. My wife has begun to use the device also and has noticed a difference with her tennis elbow.
We couldn't be happier at this point. Rating: Daniel Vertuno Dear MendMeShop, I just wanted to let you know that your heat wrap and ultrasound treatment cured a severe case of tennis elbow I have been suffering from for the last 6 months or so after only 2-3 weeks of treatment.
I think you have a great product and just wanted to let you know.
I have been telling friends and associates about the Mendmeshop and how it saved me from painful and unnecessary surgery.
Thanks and keep up the good job. Rating: Greg Davis Dear MendMeShop, I am writing to let you know of how excited I am to have learned, used and benefited from your ultrasound treatment. Months back, my husband bought me a car with a manual transmission. After about five months of driving it my right arm began to hurt. The pain started out mildly but soon it turned into acute bursitis. I was no longer able to use my arm nor my car.
I went to see the doctor but he could not offer me much hope, as I suffered from a stomach condition that prevented my being able to use anti-inflammatory medication. Days, weeks, and months followed and my arm worsened. I turned to the internet and came upon your website. I read your information and was surprised to hear about your ultrasound treatment. I was desperately hoping to obtain relief from my pain and so I took my chances, ordered your product and began using it faithfully in your prescribed manner.
After about a week I started to feel better. I continued with your recommendations and after about another week I was greatly improved! Within a months time I had recovered about 97 percent of my arms mobility. I am now doing great and have recovered fully. I continue to be excited about your product and if anyone around me complains about similar pain I tell them about this fantastic ultrasound device. I know that if they are serious about getting better this is a great product to try! Rating: Virginia Tellers
Bursitis Injury Facts Part 2:
Normally, bursa are flat and contain very little fluid. An injured bursa however, is swollen with fluid and not so flat anymore.
The most common bursitis injuries are:
Prepatellar Bursitis (housemaid's knee),
Superficial Infrapatellar Bursitis (clergyman's knee),
Trochanteric Bursitis (hip),
Olecranon Bursitis (student's elbow) and
Subacromial Bursitis (shoulder bursitis).
Deep Bursae separate bare areas of bone from overlapping muscles. Superficial Bursae separate
bare areas of bone from skin or tendons.
Deep Bursae develop in the womb. Superficial Bursae develop within months to several years after birth.
Household names for various bursitis injuries include: Popeye's Elbow, Miner's Elbow, Weaver's Elbow, Housemaid's Knee, Hod-Carrier's Shoulders, Dustman's Shoulders, Student's Elbow, and Clergyman's Knee
Dear MendMeShop, I have suffered from repeated inflammation of my left elbow chronic tendonitis since the early 1980's that I developed from doing heavy lifting when doing lawn care. I have been using the ultrasound therapy for one week and have noticed a reduction in swelling by 1/2 and a great reduction in pain. I am pleased that it is working and working so quickly. Rating: Aletta Moffett Dear MendMeShop, Dear "Aid My Tendon",
I am so happy I found your company when I did an "achilles tendon" search on the internet. The kit has been a Godsend and I can use it in my own home and when it is convenient for me.
So far it has given me amazing results. When it starts to flare up again (usually because I have worn the "wrong" shoes) I just go to work on it with the Inferno Wrap followed by the Ultrasound treatment.
Thanks for making these products available to the public.
Yours truly,
Glenna Rating: Glenna Keoskie Dear MendMeShop, I injured my roator cuff in left shoulder in Oct of '07. I had a cortisone shot shortly after and it felt good for a few weeks or so. In Dec my wife and I left for Florida for the winter suffered for three months with a sore shoulder. We returned in April visited the doctor and got another cortisone shot. About the same time I found your web site on the ultrasound units and decided to try it. I waited the 30 days from the date of the cortisone shot as instructed and started using the ultrasound unit. I can now say that for the first time since last Oct I am pain free without a cortisone shot and I attribute it to your unit. Thanks for a great product and great people to deal with, especially Deb for her help.
Also, the information you sent with the unit was shared with the physical therapy unit of our local hospital and they have approved my wife to use it for post surgery use on her thumb.
You may use me as a testimonial any time.
Jim Patten Rating: Jim Patten Dear MendMeShop, I am actually pleasantly surprised at the effectiveness of the ultrasound device.
I self diagnosed myself with Intersection Syndrome from a repeating wrist motion at work. It felt horrible for 3 weeks, tendons creaking, swelling, severe pain, and decreased range of motion.
Admittedly, I have only done the procedure 3 times so far in about 4 days (and have not used it now for about 3 days), and I am using that hand fully at work now and have not irritated the injury once. Although I know it is not completely healed yet, it truly feels like nothing ever happened. I am still skeptical that this thing can work that well, but I can’t deny that as soon as I started using the ultrasound device and then wrapping my wrist in alternating hot and cold, my wrist almost immediately got better.
It was literally 4 days later and it was like nothing was wrong.
I seriously can’t believe it. I would recommend this to anyone. Rating: Scott Marlette Dear MendMeShop, Dear mendmeshop
I am very happy with the freezie wrap and the Ultrasound unit.
Freezie wrap worked excellent and the ultrasound is extremely beneficial.
I ve been using it diligently 3 times a day for last couple weeks
And I am lifting weights again…however much lighter than before
I am also working a physical therapy session twice a day to strengthen the supraspinatus tendon with rubber bands
So thank you very much
I am recommending to my friends at the gym since many have similar injuries
Sincerely
John Rating: John Leasure Dear MendMeShop, For three months I have been fighting a minor tear in my rotator cup. Nothing I did seemed to make the injury better. After using Portable Ultrasound therapy system, the pain began to subside within days. After several weeks of intense treatment (no miss triple daily sessions), I am almost completely cured. This product is either highly effective or the world's greatest placebo machine. Rating: Richard Fencel
Bursitis Injury Facts Part 3:
On occasion, bacteria can invade a bursa and cause an infection. An infected bursa is known as septic bursitis and can be life-threatening if left untreated. So make sure you see a physician!
Septic bursitis is most common in knee joints and elbow joints as the bursae in these locations are close to the skin and most susceptible to bacterial invasion.
It is not uncommon for bursitis to be misdiagnosed as arthritis.
Bursitis is best avoided by staying in shape, taking frequent breaks from repetitive or laborious tasks and cushioning joints if on them for long periods (ie. kneepads for gardening).
A Bursa can swell to a surprisingly large size. In cases of heavy swelling, your physician may choose to drain fluid from the swollen bursa. If a lump is present in chronic bursitis cases, excision may be required.
Clergyman's Knee comes from a more upright posture when kneeling in comparison to Housemaid's Knee. Patients suffering from gout or syphilis can be at higher risk of contracting Clergyman's Knee.

Dear Bursitis Injury Sufferer,
I Have a Couple of Important Questions For You:
1. Does it boggle your mind how long it is taking your inflamed bursa to get better?
2. Are you concerned that this bursitis is not going to improve unless you stop working or dramatically reduce your daily activity?
If so, then you've come to the right place.
On this very page you are currently reading I’m going to give you the straight goods on bursa inflammation and secondary joint troubles stemming from bursitis.
After that, I'm going to reveal the following:
- How you can heal your bursitis injury fast - just like the pro-athletes do, so you can get back to work and off the couch!
- Why re-injuries are so common these days.
- Simple points you can follow to decrease your odds of having a chronic (long term) joint problem because of your bursitis injury.
So, Let's Get Started..
The Straight Goods on Bursitis Injuries
Why and How it Happens
A bursa is a small fluid filled sac typically positioned around the many joints in your body; the number varies but most people have approximately 160 bursae. The primary function of a bursa is to reduce friction between tissues of the body, commonly between tendon and bone. One example would be the pes anserine bursa, whose function is to reduce rubbing between the tibia bone and three tendons of the hamstring muscle on the inside part of the knee. Basically, bursae keep different soft tissues in the body from rubbing or fraying.
Your chances of getting bursitis increase with age. The onset of bursitis can arise from overuse of a joint, extensive stress on a joint, or through direct trauma (ie. falling and hitting your elbow on a hard surface). Bursitis is common among people who work in the trades such as carpenters, painters, and floor installers but it is often seen in musicians, students, and athletes such as tennis and golf players as well. Bursitis can also occur among people who suffer from diabetes, gout, thyroid disease, or an infection.
As you can see, there is not any specific, single reason for the development of bursitis; it can arise slowly over time, as is often seen in cases of bursitis of the hip, or it can show up all of a sudden due to a strong impact. If you suspect you may have bursitis, please see a physician for a proper diagnosis. The surprisingly high levels of pain common with bursitis inflammation is not something you should ever guess about, as it could be symptomatic of many dangerous injuries, illnesses or diseases - so make sure you get to a doctor and know exactly what you are dealing with!
A Note About Septic Bursitis
Septic Bursitis is a more serious form of bursitis, where the bursa is not only inflamed but also infected. Any time you are dealing with infection, it is absolutely critical to see your physician. Severe cases of septic bursitis may require drainage, antibiotics or various other forms of treatment. Diverse organisms such as cryptococcus, neisseria and haemophilus can bring about septic bursitis; treatment must be monitored by your physician to ensure your reactions to treatment stay positive.
Note: I strongly encourage anyone who has a bursitis injury to read more about their specific injury in our information pages. The more you understand why the injury occurred, the better chance you have to prevent re-injury.
Why is it Taking so Long to Get Better?
First of all, you need to understand the nature of a bursa. A bursa is not a muscle, tendon, ligament, cartilege or bone - it is a bursa. It is termed as a fluid filled sac, but it is actually a pretty tough sac. It is noteworthy that even a healthy bursa receives very little blood flow.
When you have an inflamed bursa, the bursa swells as damaged tissue cells release toxins. These toxins cause the area to be very tender to touch, red, and sore to move. As the toxins and damaged cells accumulate, blood vessels become blocked and fluid builds... resulting in more swelling and pain. This is very much like the effect a dam has on a river - the flow is stopped, more fluid pools and pressure within the bursa increases.
Blood is your body's natural healer. It delivers oxygen and nutrients - elements crucial to regenerate and re-grow healthy tissue. The bad news is that your inflamed bursa cannot heal fast because there is very little fresh blood flowing to the injured area - even less blood flow than when the bursa is healthy (which isn't much to start with).
By the way, if you have full blown bursitis and the pain tolerance of an average person, you won't be moving your joint - it is just too painful. The immobility that comes with the pain means there is even less blood flowing to the injured area, and that means your bursitis is going to take a very long time to heal.
Ah, So to Speed Up the Healing I Get Rid of the Swelling?
Yes, for starters. To speed it up faster, use a therapy that will decrease the swelling and also increase the blood flow. Basically, treat yourself the way pro athletes do - their trainers know the best ways to treat soft tissue injuries so take a lesson from them!
So How Do Trainers Treat Pro Athletes with Bursitis?
Trainers use a combination of cold compression and Ultrasound Therapy.
Doctors routinely prescribe ultrasonic massage treatments as a primary treatment for all forms of soft tissue inflammation. Typically these treatments are two sessions per week, since more than that becomes too inconvenient or expensive. The stakes are much higher for professional athletes however, where downtime can cost a sports team millions in lost revenue; this is why athletic team trainers treat injured athletes with ultrasound, and do so multiple times per day.
It's no SECRET! Trainers use Ultrasound on Pro Athletes ALL the TIME!
You have now learned the "straight goods" on bursitis. I was on such a roll, I already gave you some foolproof ways to recover faster from your injury. There is a key piece of information that is more valuable yet that I want to share with you. Before I do so, however, it is necessary that you learn about re-injury.
I Had Bursitis a Year or Two Ago, and Now I Have it Again! Why?
To properly answer this question, I'd have to write a short novel. The short version is this - there are many possible reasons, but the most likely are:
- You have diabetes, a form of arthritis, or some other condition that predisposes you to bursitis.
- You engage in a trade or practice that predisposes you to bursitis in a certain area. (ie. you kneel often and because of this suffer from bursitis in the knee).
- Your initial bursitis injury was not fully healed and has flared up again.
Much of the pain that is encountered with a bursitis injury goes away once the inflammation is reduced. It is at this point that many people think their bursitis is cured, but that is not the case. If you are treating bursitis, it is important to treat it fully and completely. Once the pain disappears, keep treating the area until your joint is 100% healthy. First of all, this means that the range of motion in your joint is 100% of what is was before your bursitis injury. Secondly, it means that the joint is as strong as it was before your bursitis occurred. Ensure you do not overdo it once the pain is gone.
Some bursitis sufferers mistakenly go back to work immediately after their bursa feels better not realizing their joint has weakened due to lack of use. This further increases their chances of reinjuring the bursa and even contracting tendinitis or muscle strain. Once the bursitis pain is gone and you are ready to get back to your activities, ease into it slowly to lessen your chances of a injury by treating the bursa and surrounding soft tissue with therapeutic ultrasound. If you can, try to lessen the strain on your recently recovered joint. If it is relevant, consider buying a good set of knee pads, elbow pads or better shoes with orthotics; if this can help prevent recurrence then it is probably worth it!
In most cases of a tear, strain, pull, or cartilage degeneration, scar tissue begins to form at the injury site, binding your tissues together abnormally. Unlike healthy tissue that works like a stretchy elastic band, scar tissue is tough and inflexible. Most of us know of someone that just can't seem to recover from a soft tissue injury - a good example is a runner that has injured their achilles tendon: the injury stops hurting so they start running again, and the scar tissue from the old injury prevents the achilles from flexing properly, so they keep straining it time after time. In fact, 90% of runners that have injured their achilles will re-injure their achilles again - this is what scar tissue can do - it turns a short term injury into a long term recurring injury.
So, not only will Ultrasound Therapy improve your bursa injury recovery rate - it will also help your weakened joint muscles and tendons gain flexibility as you ease back into a more physical lifestyle.
Frequent Treatments = Quicker Results
The biggest secret of ultrasound therapy is... the more you do it, the better it works. It's that simple - bursitis responds extremely well to therapeutic ultrasound and can speed up the healing process significantly.
The treatments are easy, painless and the results are outstanding!
What Does Ultrasound Do?
Ultrasound Therapy is a vital component to rapid healing of your Bursitis, as it provides multiple benefits. First, it increases blood flow to the treated area, which speeds the healing process. Second, it reduces swelling and edema, which are the main sources of pain. When used in conjunction with a Freezie Wrap® and an Inferno Wrap®, you are maximizing your recovery therapy.
To rid your bursa inflammation completely you need something to unblock the blood vessels and open the blood flow in the injury location. During ultrasound treatments, sound waves vibrate the soft tissue to reduce the blockage, decreasing the pooling of fluid and resupplying the injured area with much needed nutrients (allowing your injured cells to heal more quickly). Here's how it happens...
The sound waves bounce against the tissue, scattering the fluid that causes inflammation. This unblocks the dam allowing blood to flow normally again. Increased blood flow helps whisk away dead cells and toxins from the injured tissue. The sound waves speed your body through the inflammatory process - reducing symptoms of pain, swelling, redness and heat - and open up vessels to deliver fresh blood for healing.
...the key to faster healing.
Blood is your body's natural healer. It delivers oxygen and nutrients - crucial elements to regenerate and re-grow healthy tissue. Not only does ultrasound open up your blood vessels, it creates a thermal (warming) effect in the tissue cells. To counteract this warming effect, your body tries to cool the warmed tissue by sending blood to the treatment area. This increases the amount of fresh oxygen and nutrients to the injured area for even faster healing!
Therapeutic ultrasound increases the blood flow to soft tissue in the treatment area, enhancing your body's natural healing process in a non-invasive and painless way.
Ultrasound Therapy - Makes Sense Right?
Let's Review some points about Ultrasound Therapy:
- ultrasound increases blood flow.
- ultrasound decreases swelling.
- ultrasound can increase elasticity in muscles, tendon and ligaments.
What Can Be Treated With Ultrasound?
An incredibly wide variety of ailments are treated using ultrasound. Essentially, ultrasound will help anywhere you need increased blood circulation and reduced swelling/edema.
Injuries to the bursae, ligaments, tendons and muscles are excellent candidates for ultrasound treatments. Typically, these types of injuries are very slow to heal due to constant use and/or poor or slow blood circulation. Regular applications of ultrasound therapy over the duration of the healing period will quickly and significantly reduce pain as well as recovery time- the ultrasound-stimulated tissue and increased blood flow speed the healing process, while the swelling/edema is reduced.
Ultrasound Therapy - As a Warm Up
Most professional athletes use ultrasound therapy as a preventative measure to protect themselves against injury. Using ultrasound before and after very physically demanding activities aids in the warm-up/warm-down process. Athletes with chronic ailments from previous injuries also use ultrasound to promote circulation to the injured area and to reduce any swelling and pain which may impact their performance. Many professional athletes have purchased personal ultrasound units, due to their frequent use.
Trigger Point Therapy
Massage therapists will often offer ultrasound treatments in conjunction with regular massage, as a pain free method of releasing trigger points and "knots" in all the muscles. Using ultrasound on the trigger points of injured muscles helps to relax and reduce the trauma of the injury. When relaxed, the muscle can heal and recover from the injury much more quickly and more effectively, with less scar tissue formation. While full body ultrasound treatments are not practical, ultrasound treatments on specific injured areas are very effective.
What is so Important About Ultrasound Gel?
When applied directly to the skin an ultrasound head cannot effectively transfer the sound waves into the body. To make it work properly, a conductive medium is required - ultrasound gel.
The gel simply makes it possible for the sound waves to travel from the unit head into your body. Ultrasound without gel is ineffective and can damage the ultrasound machine.

Our online shop offers a safe personal therapeutic ultrasound device for your purchase. This ultrasound technology is the same technology used at your physical therapists office.
When used properly with our ultrasound gel, your personal ultrasound unit has been demonstrated to be a safe and effective treatment device for injuries and ailments.
Soothing
Our personal ultrasound unit comes with our specially formulated ultrasound gel containing Menthol, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, and Lavender - proven natural pain relievers.
This ultrasound gel is designed to give immediate topical relief. Even better though is that the ultrasound waves drive the pain relieving ingredients deep into the affected tissues.
Medically this process is known as phonophoresis. The end result is that the combination of our ultrasound and the specially formulated gel get to the pain deep under the skin to the injured muscle tissue, tendons and ligaments. It's relief where you need it most.
Versatile
The therapeutic properties of ultrasound and phonophoresis have many applications. You can use the MendMeShop ultrasound unit to relieve:
- Tendon injuries

Therapeutic ultrasound delivers the same kind of pain relief and healing benefits as professional ultrasound treatments at the physical therapy office.
When used in conjunction with other physical therapy regimens, users can reduce recurring physical therapy costs and decrease time traveling to inconvenient appointments.
For most injuries and ailments, a cycle of ultrasound therapy usually consists of 3 to 10 minute treatments 2-3 times per day for the duration of the healing period.
This surprises many people who have gone for single treatments in clinics only 2 or 3 times each week. This has everything to do with the cost and convenience for the customer.
A proper course of therapeutic ultrasound treatments consists of 3 to 10 minute treatments 2 to 4 times per day.

The Ultrasound with the MendMeShop gel, works!
The Ultrasound HT-901 with the MendMeShop gel, works! I've suffered with bursitis in my right shoulder for over a year and a half. As you're aware, it can be quite painful. After the first day's treatment, the pain subsided substantially. Thereafter, I have been treating it only as it flares up. The treatments are being applied less frequently. Thank you for a fine product.
Norris Kai, Hawaii USA
I have had bursitis in the heel of my left foot for well over a year. I have had multiple cortisone shots, but nothing truly eliminated the pain. I purchased the [MendMeShop] Ultrasound Pain Therapy system as a last resort. My husband and I had planned a 10 day hiking trip and I was quite concerned it would be a disaster. Due to a busy schedule I was not able to use the product as frequently as was suggested but I did try to use it twice a day, but minimally once a day. I would wrap my heel in an ice pack for 15 minutes and then due the ultra for 10 - 15 minutes. After a month my level of pain was at most a two [out of ten]. I went on the hiking trip (bought really good hiking boots ) and I brought the ultrasound with me. I used it every night. Well we hiked close to 50 miles that trip and I was no worse for the wear. I actually haven't used the since i returned on 9/24 because I have been pain free. I may even start running again. This product is wonderful Nancy, Tolland Connecticut

Bursitis Inflammation Facts:
Bursitis is the inflammation or irritation of the bursa.
Bursitis is most often caused by repetitive, minor impact on the area, or from a sudden, more serious injury.
Ultrasound can speed Bursitis injury recovery significantly.
Bursitis high-risk activities include gardening, raking, carpentry, shoveling, painting, scrubbing, tennis, golf, skiing, throwing, and pitching.
If bursitis persists and is left untreated, calcium deposits can form within the bursae. These calcium deposits limit range of motion and can lead to a permanently stiff joint.
Incorrect posture at work or home and poor stretching or conditioning before exercise can also lead to bursitis.
Dear MendMeShop, GOT MY ULTRASONIC DEVICE IN TODAY! THIS IS GREAT! I USED IT THE FIRST 5 MIN @ MEDIUM IN THE AREA OF MY THUMB I TOLD YOU ABOUT. NOTICE A BIG DIFFERANCE WHEN I WAS DONE. CAN'T WAIT TO USE IT AGAIN LATER TODAY. MY THUMB DOSEN'T CLICK OR POP LIKE IT DID BEFORE WELL AT THIS TIME ANYWAY. AND THIS WAS JUST THE FIRST TREATMENT! Dear MendMeShop, Thank you so very much!I fell from a ladder to a cement floor several months ago and broke my hip.I'm generally very healthy, and this was my first broken bone in my 68 years. When I fell, I banged my feet on a ladder and now have inflamed bursa in my heels.I have also had some arthritis in my knees for a few years, and the accident did not help.
I am sold on your unit. We live basically on social security, and this will be a great help to us. Rating: Linda Johnson
Dear MendMeShop, Thanks for the follow up email from my ultrasound purchase. It is a miracle, and a quick one at that.
I am an Ironman and suffered from IT Band Syndrome beginning in June.
The pain was excruciating. Not only could I no longer run or bike, but I also suffered from merely walking.
I've been to every doctor, tried every therapy and non-pharmaceutical treatment available. It has been 4 months since my last run.
After using the ultrasound machine for a week, I ran yesterday for 20 minutes as a trial--the pain was minimal. As I continue with my therapy my only regret is that I did not make this purchase 4 months ago when I first came upon your website. Thank you so much!
I can't wait to get back out on the road and now I know that day is right around the corner. Rating: L Towne
Dear MendMeShop, The MendMeShop ultrasound device I bought has been a great purchase...well worth the money. The ultrasound gel seems so much better than the gel they use at the physical therapy or chiropractic offices.
I initially bought the ultrasound device for an Achilles problem, and that was taken care of within 3 weeks. I am a runner who competes in races ranging from a mile to the marathon distance and competes in duathlons and triathlons.
In January of 2008 I had a severe injury of my hamstring. I took it easy, iced, and waited for the pain to go away (at this point I had not heard about a home ultrasound device.) I was able to continue running after the pain lessened, but my range of motion was limited. My right leg was tight because of the hamstring injury. In May of 2008 I was running in a boot camp class and re-injured the hamstring. An MRI showed a right hamstring strain and extensive bursitis of the right hip.
I began using the ultrasound device 3 times a day and I can say that my hamstring and hip are pain free. I have not had this much flexibility/range of motion in my right leg for over a year and a half. Rating: Barbara Doubek
Dear MendMeShop, I wanted to get back to you with feedback about the Inferno Wrap. So far we are very pleased with the size, light weight, flexibility and comfort of the wrap.
It is very convenient the way the cord is set up. If one has to leave the area for a moment it is much easier now because instead of removing the entire wrap or unplugging the whole thing
from the wall, you can just detach at the segment.
I like the on/off switch, too. It is much easier to see which setting it is on.
Everything about this new product seems more
intelligent and user friendly. A lot of thought was put into improving on the old product. Well done to all involved!!! Rating: Rebecca Page
