Bursitis Injury Facts Part 2:
Normally, bursa are flat and contain very little fluid. An injured bursa however, is swollen with fluid and not so flat anymore.
The most common bursitis injuries are:
Prepatellar Bursitis (housemaid's knee),
Superficial Infrapatellar Bursitis (clergyman's knee),
Trochanteric Bursitis (hip),
Olecranon Bursitis (student's elbow) and
Subacromial Bursitis (shoulder bursitis).
Deep Bursae separate bare areas of bone from overlapping muscles. Superficial Bursae separate
bare areas of bone from skin or tendons.
Deep Bursae develop in the womb. Superficial Bursae develop within months to several years after birth.
Household names for various bursitis injuries include: Popeye's Elbow, Miner's Elbow, Weaver's Elbow, Housemaid's Knee, Hod-Carrier's Shoulders, Dustman's Shoulders, Student's Elbow, and Clergyman's Knee
Dear MendMeShop, I am 49 years old. 2 years ago I started feeling pain in my right knee. Usually it disappeared after 10 min, so I didn't pay a lot of attention to it. After a few weeks it became stronger and one day I needed to stop jogging after 5 min. The next day it was even painful to walk. I visited a sports medicine surgeon for x-rays examination -the diagnosis - inflammation of patella tendon (point of its insertion into patella).
Took a course of physical therapy for 4 weeks twice a week. Sadly, the knee didn't feel the same. The pain was there and I felt it on each sharp movement of my right leg, when I went upstairs, and when I try to run up even a few steps. A few months later on the street, I misstep and felt sharp pain on the knee cup. This time it became swollen and REALLY painful. Visited the doctor again and obtained really strong anti-inflammatory drug which helped. I also enrolled in PT again, but after all this it was still painful.
A few months ago I went to the doctor for a third time and obtained a knee MRI ($2000 cost) and I was told that I have a partual tear of patella tendon and tendinosis. No running now and pain felt even when I touched a particular spot on the patella, and if I tried to do even partual squat it was painful as well. Recommendations - 3rd round of PT.
This time I decided to take matters into my own hands. I browsed the internet a lot, and read a lot of "horror" stories of how people suffering from runner knee for many years found out nothing, even surgery, helped them.
A few papers mentioned ultrasound, so after additional research I decided to invest around 100% into the device. There are few devices available which according to specs looks the same, but amazon reviews were quite positive for mendmeshop and I liked the fact that when I called customer service, I immediately got connected to live person and all my question were answered.
The device arrived as promised.
I've started treatment around 3 weeks ago, went by the manual 2 times per day 10min on high for the first two week, 3rd week I did once a day only, so today (Oct 25 is the first day of 4th week which is recommended to skip treatments).
As it mentioned in the manual, I didn't feel any warm sensation on the skin (some people complained about heat), The device itself becames slightly warm but that's about it. You can hear a little humming which nearly disappears when you have a good seal between the metal head and the skin.
Results: immediately after each treatment I felt a tangible decrease in pain just by pressing on the patella. Moreover , I also felt much less pain when I did a very partial one-leg squats. Now 3 weeks after I started the treatment , I can do 10-15 one leg partial decline squats literally pain free (a little ache but nothing similar to what I had before). No pain when I stand up from chair or go upstairs. I am very encouraged ( frankly I was sceptical at the beginning and thoght it's a snake oil, but I decided to try and I am very happy I did ).
I'll definetely continue to use the device in the future. I have a scheduled visit to my knee doctor in a few weeks and I am eager to see what he will tell. I would be very interested to get a second MRI and see if there are any changes in tendon , but I am skeptical he will send me. Well now I am happy that there is a progress with pain and I am about to start exercising on the Nordic Track ski machine since it's less pressure on the knee joints). I am not taking any risk in starting jogging (I tried few steps and it's OK , but I don't want to take chances).
Overall, I achieved great help from this device and I wish I would have started it much earlier. Need to give credit for MendMeShop customer service - immediate connection to live person, questions promptly answered, notification e-mails after shipment. Rating: Vladimir Rainish Dear MendMeShop, I fell on my bike under a UPS truck (It wasn't moving yet) because
I couldn't get my feet out of my clips and, consequently fell on my shoulder and tore my rotator cuff. The pain was almost intolerable, not to mention the inability to dress myself and do simple everyday tasks--like driving, working on computer, etc.
I saw my chiropractor, received multiple massages, participated in physical therapy and alternated ice/heat packs. I knew from my masseuse that when you have an injury like this, it is very involved.
There are several different muscles that support the rotator cuff and when they become inflamed, sometimes scar tissue is formed as your body starts to heal.
The only thing that really seemed to help my shoulder improve and the pain subside was getting ultrasound at my Chiropractor's office, but since I couldn't afford to go that route on a daily basis, I searched online and found the MendMe shop's ultrasound wand.
After two weeks of using the wand, I was able to slowly start to get my muscles to fire again and rehabilitate via swimming, light weights and simple yoga stretched. Now, I have full range of my shoulder and am ready to get back on my bike and try again! Rating: Judy C
Bursitis Injury Facts Part 3:
On occasion, bacteria can invade a bursa and cause an infection. An infected bursa is known as septic bursitis and can be life-threatening if left untreated. So make sure you see a physician!
Septic bursitis is most common in knee joints and elbow joints as the bursae in these locations are close to the skin and most susceptible to bacterial invasion.
It is not uncommon for bursitis to be misdiagnosed as arthritis.
Bursitis is best avoided by staying in shape, taking frequent breaks from repetitive or laborious tasks and cushioning joints if on them for long periods (ie. kneepads for gardening).
A Bursa can swell to a surprisingly large size. In cases of heavy swelling, your physician may choose to drain fluid from the swollen bursa. If a lump is present in chronic bursitis cases, excision may be required.
Clergyman's Knee comes from a more upright posture when kneeling in comparison to Housemaid's Knee. Patients suffering from gout or syphilis can be at higher risk of contracting Clergyman's Knee.

ColdCure Technology® Treats Your Bursitis Injury With the Best Therapy Available!
Do You Know About RICE ?
Chances are, you probably do! For at least the last century, doctors, nurses, healthcare workers and physical therapists have been trained to use the RICE formula immediately following a soft tissue injury. What is Rice? Rice stands for: Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation.
Did You Know RICE is WRONG ?
No, I suspect this is probably new information to you! My point (that I will soon explain) is that RICE is wrong, but nearly right. The truth is that ice is too cold to be the optimal method for treating a soft tissue bursa injury. We don't want to apply ice... we want to apply persistent cold that is not below freezing.
ICE BURNS .... but COLD CURES !
Applying ice to the skin is not such a good thing after all. Sure, you want cold temperatures on your bursa injury - but not so cold that it is below the freezing point of water (and skin). The problem with ice (and the common modern day ice pack) is that it can freeze the skin. This freezing of the skin is often called a "cold burn"; in the medical industry this is referred to as "cryoburn". Ice can be even more dangerous if it is used often enough that nerves are numbed and you don't feel the permanent damage that you are doing to the skin.
Stay Safe with the ColdCure Technology® Advantage
You don't need to use ice or frozen ice packs that reach temperatures below freezing ... in fact, you shouldn't. Ice pack 'burns' are so frequent and damaging there are law firms who specialize in ice pack injury cases. Don't let this happen to you! With MendMeShop® Freezie Wraps® you are completely safe and you will get all the relief from pain and swelling that you require. This is the Heart of our ColdCure Technology® advantage - our Freezie Wraps® are uniquely made so that you can use our wraps effectively without the risk of cryoburn.
ColdCure Technology® Advantage #1: Non-Migrating Gel
Our Freezie Wraps® use a special non-migrating gel that is soft to the touch but doesn't flow under pressure. It's not a solid and it's not a liquid either. It's something in between. This means that the gel stays in place over the bursa and does not flow away to other parts of the wrap. This is very important, especially since most bursae are in the exact spot where most of the pressure will be on the ice pack. You want the pressure on the affected area, not flowing away from it. You also want the cold there too. And, you want it to be soft and comfortable because that area is hurt! With our specially formulated non-migrating soft gel, you get it all. In fact, our non-migrating gel works so well that it is common practice for many of our customers to wear their wraps all the time to work. They are just that comfortable!
ColdCure Technology® Advantage #2: Massive Amounts of Non-Migrating Gel
If we were going to sell a proper cold compression wrap, we wanted to make sure we had enough gel in the wrap to do the job properly. This is a big problem! Nearly all cold wraps you will find on the market fall short in this area... and there are a LOT of poor cold wraps out there! Gel is heavy and a lot of gel is MUCH more expensive to make - and it is not cheap to ship either. This is why everyone makes pretty wraps with just a little bit of gel, and you know by now that's not good.
ColdCure Technology® Advantage #3: A Spare Gel Pack with Each Freezie Wrap®
And yes...each spare pack has the same Massive Amount of Non-Migrating Gel
All of our Freezie Wraps® come with 3 very large packs of gel. There is one very large gel pack already in the wrap and 2 more that you can swap in and out quickly to keep your therapy going. As an example, our hip wrap comes with 3 gel packs that weigh about 4 lbs (2kgs) and that's just the gel packs alone. Compare that to most other wraps on the market that weigh about 1 lb or less including the wrap. In many cases we offer up to 10 times the amount of gel compared to competitive wraps for the same body part. That adds up to a massive advantage in the treatment that you receive.
ColdCure Technology® Advantage #4: Fridge Instead of Freezer!
Our Freezie Wraps® are designed for fridge use instead of freezer use and that should be as important to you as it is to us! As we have mentioned already, using ice (or wraps that charge up in the freezer) starts your treatment at a temperature that is too cold for your skin and too cold for your body to be optimally effective.
The difference between putting a regular ice pack on your injury versus a Freezie Wrap® pack is stunning! You get incredible cooling power for a long period of time that is not damaging and not painful on your skin. If you still want to charge the Freezie Wrap® in the freezer, know that the gel packs still remain flexible. Even if you charge them in the feezer, they definitely outperform everything else on the market, but we still recommend you start by using them at refrigerator temperatures. It really is the best choice for your health.
The results speak for themselves; you get better pain relief and better control of inflammation, and that adds up to you getting better... faster. Once you put our Freezie Wrap® on, you won't want to take it off - and you don't have to. That's the advantage of our ColdCure Technology®.
I Use the Freezie Wrap As Soon As I Get Home
Over the past eight months I have been suffering from shoulder and arm pain. I just kept thinking that the pain would go away on its own. When I reached the point where I was unable to raise my arm over my head without assistance and forget about putting my arm behind my back. I decided that a trip to the doctor was due. She determined that I had a soft tissue injury due to repetitive movement and heavy lifting.
She suggested that I try physical therapy. With my work schedule and family obligations I knew that was going to be very difficult and I wanted something that I could fit into my schedule. So I began doing research on the internet for alternative treatments and exercises.
That's when I found your product on the internet. I was somewhat skeptical as to rather it would perform as stated, but decided to give it a try. It was stated that it could take up to three weeks to feel results.
BUT I am here to say that for myself it has done better. I have been using the "Ultrasound" and the "Freeze Wrap" for a week and have already felt some improvement. I can now raise my arm to just about shoulder height unassisted, and can now almost get my finger tips back behind my back.
I use the "Ultrasound" first thing each morning and try to throw in a second treatment in the early evening if possible. I make a point of using "Freeze Wrap" as soon as I get home from work to relieve the stress to my muscles from work and to keep the inflammation down. Now that I have gotten some of the inflammation gone I intend to incorporate the "Inferno Wrap" treatment to my regiment to just before going bed to aid the healing process and aid in a better night's sleep.

What is ColdCure Technology®?
ColdCure Technology® gives you fast acting, long lasting cooling therapy – without the risk of cold burns, or cryoburn. The Freezie Wrap® provides incredible cooling power that is not painful or damaging to the skin.
How much better can Freezie Wrap® gel packs be? You will be amazed how something so simple can be made so much better. Our manufacturer has put in years of time and experimentation with many gel formulations. This is why there are many improvements in our wrap that we do not talk about. All the effort put into making this an outstanding product has culminated into many great ideas and patents that our manufacturer considers "trade secrets". To talk about these would mean we are giving away our efforts and research for free.
Many of the groundbreaking advancements of the Freezie Wrap® are patented while some other advancements are still going through the patent process. What you can be assured of is, however, that the Freezie Wrap® Leg Cold Compression Wrap with ColdCure Technology® is far superior to any other cold compression wrap in the market today.
Freezie Wrap® = The Best Cold Compression Wrap You Will EVER See!
How are fridge charged gel packs more effective?
Well, the answer is simple. Swelling and pain therapy doesn't require the temperature of your tissue to drop dramatically. In fact, a couple of degrees below your normal body temperature is all that's required - and what is safely recommended – for effective cold compression therapy. There just hasn't been a gel pack available that can be charged in the fridge AND stay cold enough throughout your entire treatment...until now!
Using ice or a freezer gel pack can do damage to your skin, and worse yet, numb your nerves so much that you can't even feel it doing the damage.
With the Freezie Wrap®, you won't have to stop treatments after a few minutes because it's just too cold on your injured bursa or weakened joint.
The gel pack inside every Freezie Wrap®:
- Is thick and chock-full of gel that does not squish away from where you need it, even under pressure.
- Is cooled in the fridge to a 'body-friendly' temperature.
- Stays soft, even when cold, for a mouldable and comfortable fit.
- Stays cool longer so you get a complete treatment and lasting pain relief.
- If you choose to freeze it (not something we advise) the gel does not freeze, but stays pliable.
...because if you have a swollen, you will not want to take the cold off!
The premium compression wrap:
- Has adjustable straps for a fit that you control to your personal level of comfort and compression.
- Fits conveniently over or under clothes so you can wear it and carry on with your day - try doing this with a towel full of ice tied to your leg.
- Is breathable enough for you to wear all day – with or without the gel pack.
- Is made of premium, medical grade neoprene that won't stretch out of shape over time.
- Acts as an insulator to help maintain the cooling power even longer.
ColdCure Technology® Reduces Tissue Damage = Faster Healing
Not only is ColdCure Technology® the best way to treat pain, swelling and inflammation, ColdCure Technology® also reduces tissue damage when used immediately following a tendon or bursitis injury, re-injury, post-operative, or after irritation from overuse occurs.
When you experience joint strain, the surrounding soft tissue or bursae can becomes swollen and painful. This means tissue has been damaged and fluid is leaking within the injured area. The swelling and inflammation starts to block blood vessels, eventually cutting off the oxygen supply to your cells. Once this happens, tissue cells begin to die.
When you put the Leg Freezie Wrap® cooling power around your leg, you reduce swelling and slow the cells biological need for more oxygen. You stop tissue damage in its tracks! And less damage means less pain and less healing required.
The Freezie Wrap® is everything you need to relieve your bursitis pain and swelling - even following drainings and surgery! For post surgical use, please talk with your physician before starting a course of treatment.
Whether you have suffered an inflamed bursa or tendon tear in the joint area; you need the Freezie Wrap® and other premium products from MendMeShop. Here's how it works. When your injury first occurs and the bursa is swollen and painful (this is generally termed an acute injury), using a cold compression Freezie Wrap® will first calm the swelling in the area. Once the swelling has started to subside you can begin ultrasound treatments to further reduce inflammation and clean out the injured area of damaged tissue and swelling. The Inferno Wrap® promotes the blood flow necessary for your injured joint soft tissues to heal. You can continue to use the Freezie Wrap® to prevent the inflammation from returning, to control pain if you re-injure the area and provide light support in the injury location.
Ultrasound therapy cleans the area and treats scar tissue, BFST® promotes blood flow and healing; the Leg Freezie Wrap® reduces pain and swelling. The combined result is truly amazing!
Like all of our products, Freezie Wraps® are the best quality product you will find anywhere. We guarantee our wraps with our 60 day money back guarantee. If for any reason you're not happy with any product you purchase in our shop, you can send it back for a full refund.

Bursitis Inflammation Facts:
Bursitis is the inflammation or irritation of the bursa.
Bursitis is most often caused by repetitive, minor impact on the area, or from a sudden, more serious injury.
Ultrasound can speed Bursitis injury recovery significantly.
Bursitis high-risk activities include gardening, raking, carpentry, shoveling, painting, scrubbing, tennis, golf, skiing, throwing, and pitching.
If bursitis persists and is left untreated, calcium deposits can form within the bursae. These calcium deposits limit range of motion and can lead to a permanently stiff joint.
Incorrect posture at work or home and poor stretching or conditioning before exercise can also lead to bursitis.
Dear MendMeShop, I was in the middle of my training for my first Ironman triathlon in Florida, when my running had to come to a complete stop because of tendonitis in my right knee. After a month off and using the Inferno Knee Wrap for one week was able to start back where I left off in my run training and as of November 6th 2010 my Ironman dream is now a reality, finishing my training and the race in Panama City injury free. Thank you Mend Me Shop and the Inferno Knee Wrap for helping me achieve my dream. Rating: Jeffrey Lange
Dear MendMeShop, I just had to write and tell you how pleased I am with your Ultrasound Pain Therapy System.
I had been suffering with peripheral neuropathy caused by the anti cancer drug laxi taxel (synthetic version of Taxol) for approximately six months when I remembered that seven years earlier. I had plantar fascitis and it was cured at the podiatrist’s office with the use of ultra sound. The needles and pins feelings are very similar. I should also note that I tried the prescription drug Lyrica for only one month because the drug side effects were actually worse than the neuropathy itself.
I decided to search on line for an ultrasound system that I could purchase and use at home because I was really tired of travelling for treatments. Nowhere on your site did I find a reference to neuropathy, but I decided to order your Ultrasound Pain Therapy System and see if it would help the numbness in my hands and feet.
I was amazed after my very first treatment. My left hand immediately improved and there was noticeable improvement in my right hand and both feet.
After using your product for approximately three weeks I am so thrilled that I tell everyone how great it has worked for me.
I estimate that my hands are 80%-90% better and my feet are 75% improved. Thank you so much for making this product available. Rating: Nancy Weaver-Ottendorf
